Publisher: Crissy & Markley

Format: Leather bound antiquarian

Condition:
Fragile leather bound antiquarian volume containing information about "All the Principal Denominations which have subsisted in the religious world from the birth of Christ to the present day." A TALL ORDER INDEED! Please see pic of title page which includes other information in this volume, and note the name of the other minister from whom this work was "corrected:" "The Rev. George Bush, A.M." The title page also annotates this as "CORRECTED EDITION."

Condition: Front cover barely still attached. Spine cover missing at upper half, bottom portion disbound. Back cover very worn but in better condition than front. Inside pages extremely age yellowed/tanned, binding loose, but appears that all pages are still intact and accounted for. Signs of moisture stains throughout, but no text obliterated as a result. No markings noted. Lots of foxing, of course, as typical with antique paper.

This is an important volume for anyone doing research on the churches throughout the world up to the date this was published (1851). Several black and white plates showing artists' renditions of martyrdom of many Christians in the past centuries which are quite disturbing. I have included pics of those. Also included is a pic of the layout of the text of the body of this work, which is accomplished in a bordered two-column format, and the text is quite small, I would estimate it to be approximately 8 pt. font.
