SOLD - The Good Housekeeping Cook Book Cookbook - 1944

SYNOPSIS:  981 pages.

Publisher: Grosset & Dunlap, Publishers, New York

Format: Hardback. No dust jacket. NOT an EX LIB. 1944 edition.

Collectible edition of one of the most classic cook books in America, published in 1944 by Ferrar & Rinehart, as a "Completely Revised Edition." It has been well-loved and used, but still has lots of use left in it.

Condition: The first photographic page across from the title page is loose. The binding is split at the front cover and along the spine cover, and loosened under spine cover but amazingly all pages still bound and intact and actually tightly bound except for that one loose page in front. Of course, lots of food spots throughout. 981 gorgeous and tantalizing pages of some iconic American recipes. The best part about this cook book is the poignant and touching personal presentation inscription to "My Darling Wife" from "Your Loving Husband" on Christmas day, 1944. Quite made me tear up reading it. Also included is an insert the owner had cut out of the December, 1948, edition of the Better Homes & Gardens magazine with some additional recipes for the Christmas holidays. Will leave that inserted in the book as a bonus.

See Grading Scale page for explanation of grades. Photos of any obvious condition issues will be provided.
