SOLD2021 - Heroes and Hero Worship and The Heroic in History, by Thomas Carlyle, VERY SCARCE EARLY EDITION

SYNOPSIS:  345 pages.

Publisher: Publisher's page missing with indication of age.

Format: Hardback. No dust jacket.

Condition: Very small volume 4-1/4" X 6" bound in floral boards with burgundy and silver (leather?) spine cover. In poor condition, and would not have even merited listing had it not been for the apparent scarcity of this edition in this format. This was obtained from the estate of a now-deceased minister. The first pages are missing, and first page is actually first page of printed text. Name written on inside front cover in fountain pen ink, and an annotation written on the inside back cover in pencil. Pages extremely age-yellowed, very fragile, and end pages have holes worn through. No noticed marks on inner pages, but we did not look at every single page, so not 100% guaranteed to be free of any marks. Soiling, foxing, and other stains, but no text obliterated. No tears noted, or pages missing. Spine cover is completely detached and needs to be reguled, and back cover almost completely detached. Held on only with small portion of spine cover at lower edge. We have been unable to find this edition in this format anywhere else online! Photos illustrate condition.
