SYNOPSIS:  122 pages. Written and compiled by Members of the Federal Writers' Project of the Works Progress Administration in the New England States. Sponsored by the New England Council, Boston.

A guide to the highlights of the six New England states for your vacation pleasure. Photos bound in before the title page, of quaint houses and scenic views. Project director Alsburg wanted to produce six regional guides covering all then-48 states, but this is the only one to see the light of day. A real piece of nostalgia!

Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston - The Riverside Press Cambridge, 1939. First Edition.

Format: Hardback with dust jacket.

Condition:
In acceptable condition.
Heavy yellowing to jacket as it was originally printed on a lower grade paper. Front flap price-clipped; edge chipping around jacket edges. Bright red cloth covered board. Moisture spot to lower board caused bleeding to INSIDE of jacket, about 2" in diameter which fortunately did not bleed through to outside of jacket. Binding split at first photograph bound-in, with binding mesh showing. Repairable by book archivist. Heavy age yellowing to inner pages, an occasional mark in pencil, also removable. Wonderful black and white photographs, as well as line drawing maps. No tears noted to inner pages. Apparently a fold-out map originally included at publication is no longer with the volume. Photos illustrate condition.

See Grading Scale page for explanation of grades. Photos of any obvious condition issues will be provided.
